Dennis Delmore Baird

Dennis Delmore Baird “Denny”, 76, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 15, 2010 of natural causes. Denny was born on May 4, 1933, in Ogden, Utah to Nellie DeHeer and Delmore Baird. As a young man, Denny served in the Armed Forces (Army). He was a lifelong resident of Ogden, Utah where he retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 36 years of service as an engineer. Denny had a big, caring heart, who accepted people for who they were. He liked everybody and enjoyed making people laugh. During his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Later in life, his favorite past-times were visiting friends and family, going to Dees and Stagecoach restaurants, walking the mall with his good friend, Bob Curtis, and spending time in Wendover. Denny is survived by his dear friend Patricia Ziemer, Danene Baird (married and later divorced), son Bruce D. Baird, daughters Danielle Shureen VanDyke and MiLauna De VanDyke, sister Deanna D. Nielsen, niece Julie Dolan and nephew Tim Nielsen. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Tally, Tiera, Heather, Daxton, Savannah, Dallyn, Bayli, Corbyn and Xavier, five great grandchildren, two grand-nieces and two grand-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Lon. Friends and family will always remember Denny for his great sense of humor, his appreciation for Albert Einstein and his belief in fairness to all people. He will be missed very much. All family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 6-8p.m. and Friday, April 23, from 1-2 p.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th St. Ogden, Utah. There will be a graveside service at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park at 2:00 pm on Friday April 23, 2010.
