Myron Waldo Green

Myron Waldo Green passed away on April 24, 2010, four days before his 95th birthday. Myron was born on April 28,1915 to Charles and Margaret Peterson Green. He was the seventh of ten children, four boys and six girls. Myron was the last surviving member of his family. He grew up on a farm in Kanesville UT, where he learned the ethics of hard work. He enjoyed rides out to his boyhood home, which is still standing, when his son took him there. Myron was a lifelong baseball fan. He played shortstop on Farm Bureau baseball teams for many years. In 1939 Myron renewed his acquaintance with a young red-headed girl he knew from high school, at a dance at White City. Myron and Janet Leone Wood were married on November 21, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had three children, Gerald David Green, Janice Green, and Neal Alan Green. His wife preceded him in death in 1998. In addition to farming, Myron worked at a meat packing plant and a box-making plant. In 1948 he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service. After a distinguished career, he retired from the Post Office in 1977. Myron was a quiet man, but he could tell stories like no one else. His memory was outstanding right up to the end of his life. Our family will miss his stories. Myron is survived by his son, Neal A. (Maranne) Green, 4 Grandchildren; Joelle (Brian) Creager, Michael, Bryan and Brandon Green. 6 Great Grandchildren; Coulter (Kirsten), Brandi, Breann (A.J), Kyler, Dallin and Valerie. 3 Great Great Grandchildren; Ethan, Rylie and Owen. He was preceded in death by his wife Janet, daughter Janice, son Gerald, his parents, 3 brothers, six sisters, and two great grandsons, Kaden and Bryce. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Family Tree Assisted Living, as well as Symbii Hospice and Access Hospice for their devoted care of Myron. A viewing will be held for friends and family at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th St at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 27, followed by a graveside service at 3:00 pm at Washington Heights Memorial Park.

We want to express our condolences at the passing of Uncle Myron. He certainly lived a good full life. Mother often talked of him and his love of genealogy. Now he will have the answers to his questions in that regard. Living in Oregon, we weren't able to see your family very much, but still feel connected. Our sympathy and best wishes to you and your family Love, Your cousin Karen and husband Garry.
