Grant Christian Andersen, 76, passed away on May 21, 2010 at his home in Harrisville Utah, after a long battle with heart and lung disease. He was born August 20, 1933 in Ogden, Utah to Cyrus Christian and Florence Zelnora Child Andersen. He was an accomplished violinist from the age of 5 years old and won many competitions. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1951, where he lettered in football and enjoyed playing the tuba, violin and many other instruments with the orchestra and band. He married his sweetheart and love of his life Geraldine Gooch on August 12, 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple. They enjoyed many years of farming, bowling, fishing, hunting, dancing and cooking together. Grants childhood dream was to be a farmer. He purchased his first dairy farm with his parents when he was a senior in high school which he and Geri ran. Later he and his brothers purchased and ran a 450 acre ranch in Oxford Idaho, where his family enjoyed many years of working and playing at his side. He served in the Utah National Guard in an artillery unit. He worked as a lineman, a heavy equipment operator and retired as a carman for the Southern Pacific Railroad, where he invented many gadgets that the Union Pacific probably still use today. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He taught his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren many of his talents and to enjoy life to the fullest, always having humor and a positive attitude. He is survived by his wife Geri, his daughter Pam (Mark) Graham, sons Darwyn (Christi) and Kory Andersen; grandchildren, Nathan (Keylee), Matthew (Rita), Casey (Alicia), Dustin Graham, Erik (Molly), Araya, Logan and Chelsea Andersen; and his great-grandchildren, Rayvin, Kenydee, Kymber, Taylor, Izzabella, Braxton Graham and Casey Andersen. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Vernon Andersen, sister Verna Larsen and grandchildren, Ambree and Daman Andersen. Services will be held on Friday, May 28 at 11:00 am at Leavitt’s Mortuary 836 36th St. Ogden, Utah. Friends and family may visit Thursday evening from 6-8pm or 1 hour prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will be at the Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Utah. We would like to thank the staff at McKay Dee Hospital as well as Grant and Geri’s many friends and family for their care and loving support.

Dear Andersen Family, I was saddened to hear that Grant passed away. I was unable to come to the viewing last night and today I have no one who can cover for me at work. Unfortunately everyone has taken leave for the holiday. I just wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have been reminiscing about growing up in Harrisville and how the Andersen family were such a part of my life. Brother and Sister Andersen were my Sunday School teachers and I loved them! What great people and what a great family and legacy they left behind! Geri, I am sorry for your loss and I pray that the sweet, peaceful, healing Spirit of the Lord will attend you and your family and all of Grant's siblings who have been such a wonderful part of my life. Pam, I still remember the day you saw me at church and told me you were a grandma! That astounded me! I hope you and yours are all well. With love and my deepest sympathy, Nancy (Jennings) Field
