Wayne M. Davis, 86, passed away at home on June 6. 2010 from causes incident to age. As always, he was in the company of his loving wife, family, and friends.
Wayne was born in Clinton, Utah on August 5, 1923 to William Davis and Nannie Bowyer Davis. Wayne was the youngest of six children and attended schools in Clinton, West Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1941.
Enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1942, Wayne was assigned to the 8th Air Force in England and flew several missions over Germany as a gunner in a B-17 bomber. His plane was shot down and he was a German P.O.W. for one year. Wayne was discharged from the Army in 1945 and returned home to Ogden.
Wayne came home from the war but like so many of his time, the war never left Wayne. Some of the wounds never fully healed but he was always positive about his experience and more than willing to talk about what happened to him in Europe. It was his way of living with a past experience that was always a part of his present life. He was proud to have served his country and was highly decorated for that service.
Wayne married Marjorie VanderWoude in 1945 and they had three children. Wayne worked twenty-five years for the Ogden Fire Department and then went to work for the Defense Depot where he worked another eighteen years as a journeyman electrician. Marjorie passed away in 1985 and in February of 1988 Wayne married Bessie Child. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple in 1989 and together they served a full time mission to Nova Scotia from 1990 to 1991. Except for the two mission years, Wayne and Bessie have resided in Roy.
Wayne was also preceded in death by his brothers Eldon Davis, Lloyd Davis, and Don Davis, his sisters Dorothy Davis (infant) and Opal Hadfield, and two children, daughter, Deloma Beesley and son, Dee W. Davis.
He is survived by his wife Bessie, a son Del Davis (Wanda) and Bessie’s children David C. (Stephanie) Jay, Francelle (Howard) Staheli and Nedra (Ron) Glispey and several nieces and nephews. There are also 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Bessie, I am so sorry to hear about Wayne. He truly was and continues to be a wonderful man. I know I am better for having gotten to know both of you. Please let me know if there is anything you need or anything I can do for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. Chuck (Your Tax Guy)

Sister Davis,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. We loved you and Bro Davis when you served in our branch in Liverpool and even more when I got to visit your house in Roy when I was out at BYU. Thanks for all the love - sending some back your way.
