Don was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy and he proudly and honorably served his country for 21 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. The Navy gave him the opportunity to travel the world before settling in San Diego and then he retired in 1984 in Ogden, Utah. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, June and her 3 children, Sandy York, Ron Lilly and Doug Lilly; and his 2 children from his first marriage, Donna Knotts and Don Hawks, Jr. He has 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Don grew the best garden in town and was known for his delicious tomatoes, which he gladly shared with everyone. We love you and you will be sorely missed. What a grand reunion we will have when we meet again.

You are in our prayers. We know how hard it is to lose someone but know that the Lord will give you the comfort and strength to carry you through this deep valley. We also look forward to the great reunion some day when we meet our Lord and Savior in heaven along with all our fellow brothers and sisters.
