Marian Price Phillips August 21, 1918 – July 8, 2010 Ogden – Marian Price Phillips passed away quietly; incident to age, on July 8th 2010, at her home in Country Pines Asst. Living, Clinton, UT.
Marian was born on August 21st, 1918 in Springville, Utah to Franklin Daybell Price and Myrtle Peirce. She graduated from Logan High School and attended Utah State Agricultural College. She married Thomas Ray Phillips, whom she met at USAC, on May 19, 1938 in the LDS Logan Temple. “T. Ray” retired as a Captain in the Ogden City Fire Dept. He passed away from cancer on Sept. 14, 1981.
Marian was active in the LDS Church. She held many positions, which included RS President. She also served in the PTA and in her community.
She worked several years in the Weber County Library and for Flameco fabrication. She enjoyed designing homes for a hobby including the family home on Patterson Street in Ogden. She wrote several family histories, her own personal history, and compiled numerous genealogical stories. She enjoyed connecting her family to their ancestors by telling stories of her family, cousins, extended cousins, and relatives. She enjoyed receiving emails from her grandsons while on their missions. Marian read extensively. When she became legally blind, she continued to “read” books on tape to include the scriptures, Ensign, and other church books. On her computer, she did her finances, kept track of birthdays, and compiled a list of titles and authors of over 4,000 books that she had read. She loved to tell jokes, poems, and limericks and occasionally wrote her own.
She is survived by: her children, Michael (Deanne) Phillips, Fruit Heights: Wynn (Karen) Phillips, Pleasant View: Diane (Dale) Stephenson, Provo: Thair (Janna) Phillips, VA: Kim (Valerie) Phillips, Kaysville, Leesa (Phillips) Kapetanov, and one foster daughter, Vickie (Reggie) Curry, AZ. She has 29 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren, 2 foster grandchildren; and 1 foster great-grandchild.
I am so sorry to learn of the passing of your mother. I have such fond memories of Patterson Street, the kids and the parents that raised us all. Your mom was always so kind and nice to me even when I didn't deserve it. May the peace of God sustain you at this time of sorrow.

My condolences on the passing of your mother. We had such a great opportunity growing up on Patterson with all the wonderful families that lived there. Of course your mother was one of the main stays who made the neighborhood what it was. May God Bless you in this time of mourning and always. Clay

My Very Special Second Mom
Even though you were not my mom you were always there for me.
With the little things you did you let me know you cared.
You were always there to help me whatever my need may have been.
You gave of yourself and your time to me so unselfishly.
You helped make me the Man, Missionary & Father that I never knew I could be.
A second mom as great as you is something very rare.
I just want to thank you Marian and let you know I Love You.

My heart and prayers reach out to each of you with your loss of your Mother. When I was growing up, I loved the Phillips' home, as there was always something constructive and fun going on. I felt the peace, goodness, and harmony your Mom brought. I always had a love for my ancestry, and she taught me at a very early age about research. I have never forgotten that and thank her for that excitement she stirred as I continue my research.. I love you and your family and will always hold dear the memories I have had with you. Sincerely, Nancy Porter Morse

We lived next door to Marian for about 8 years in Kaysville. We loved her sense of humor, kind spirit, and optimistic attitude despite the challenges she had with her eye sight. She used to bake us bread and I could never figure out how you could make such good bread when you were legally blind. We also enjoyed visiting with her and Alan and knew to plan on several hours because they always had such great stories to tell. What a great woman! It was a privilege to know her. She will be missed.

I work for Country Pines, and wanted to tell you what a joy Marian was to take care of. She was always very interested in my activities at church and school, and I was supposed to report back to her about my EFY experience this week. She was always very kind, very thoughtful. Some things I will miss about her is the specific way she loved her hair done, her empathy for the suffering of those around her, her enjoyment of the conference/CES firesides on TV, and how she loved to have 3 1/2 hearts hanging off the edge of her bed. She was very proud of her family, especially her grandchildren, as she talked about them often. She will be greatly missed and will be happily remembered.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. Steadfast in her faith, along with T. Ray, they accepted me into their home and allowed me to stay there during a period of rough transition for me. They had firm standards and expectations, couched in their faith, and adhered lovingly to those standards. I will always remember her as faithful, supportive, and loving.

Marian was the kind of person we all want to be - kind and giving and loving. She lived the Gospel by her example in the life she lived and in the children she raised. I pray for Marian and her family to all be comforted at this tim eof need. May God hold you close... (Leesa - may this mesage find you at peace and love).

My love to you and your family in the loss of Marian. She became very dear to us while we have been residents at Pineview Rehab Center. She was a light to all of us. I know she enjoyed my booklet of poems as we shared her poems and jokes together. Your family was an example of devotion as you so lovingly cared for her. Love Marjorie
