In loving memory of Betty Lou Jean Thomas, born May 19, 1931 to James Tom Thomas and Jesse Lee Hensley in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Betty has lived a full and eventful life and will be missed by friends and family. Betty graduated from Huntertown High School in 1949 and was married in 1951. She was married for 14 years and had two children, David Neal and Jessica Lee Knuth. In the early 1960’s Betty moved her family to San Jose, California. Faith and family were the most important factors in Betty’s life and helped her survive and thrive during the turbulent times she lived through. She was raised Mennonite and became a member of the LDS church in 1983. She was an accomplished seamstress in Indiana, and became a bookkeeper in California and eventually an accountant. She retired early due to an accident during the 1980s. In the early 1990’s she moved from California to Utah to care for her terminally ill daughter after having cared for her mother the previous decade. She was the youngest of 5 children and was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister. Betty is survived by one brother, Leslie Thomas, and her son, David Knuth of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is also survived by four grandchildren, in Indiana and Utah, four great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild also in Ogden, Utah. Betty passed away December 15, 2009 with her family at her side. Services for Betty Thomas are being handled by Leavitt’s Mortuary at 836 36th Street Ogden, Utah 84403. The funeral service will be a private family gathering and Betty’s ashes will be scattered in the foothills east of Ogden.
