Greg Cartwright

On February 18th, 2010 Greg left to find a new ski run.

He was born on December 14, 1949 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Arthur and Helen Cartwright. He attended Ogden City Schools, graduated from Ogden High and also attended Weber State University. He furthered his education by becoming an E.M.T. He married Nancy Hodson and later divorced. He respected and loved the beauty and challenges of the outdoors. Being able to backpack through Yellowstone or skiing the black diamond runs at Snow Bird or Snow Basin were among the great gifts of his life. Greg worked as a Ski Patrol at Snowbasin Resort. He is survived by his mom Helen Cartwright, Ogden UT; son Travis (Angie) Cartwright, London, England; sister Judy (Barry) Banks, Ogden, UT; nephews Rick Schow, Morgan Hill, CA; and Mitch Schow, Ogden, UT; cousins Dennis Simpson, Bob Anderson, both of Ogden, UT; Craig Baumunk , LaVerne, CA; Karen LeRoux, Bend,OR; nephews, nieces and long-time friend Rich Schow. Greg was preceded in death by his father Arthur Cartwright.

A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT on Friday, February 26th 2010 at 2 pm. Friends are welcome to gather at 1 pm.

Greg’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sobotka and staff, and extend appreciation to the McKay Dee ICU and Hospice team and to Danna Schow and her Aspen Care staff for their compassion, care and comforting efforts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes.

Cremation under the direction of Leavitt’s Mortuary.

Greg’s entire family know the sky will by crystal clear and bright blue, the powder will be fresh and deep, the black diamond runs ready to bust and your backpack full!
