LaRue Russell Snyder

Our loving mother and grandmother, LaRue Russell Snyder, died peacefully on Sunday, March 28, 2010, in Seattle, Washington. LaRue was born on August 11, 1923, in Ogden, Utah, to Frank and Susie Russell. Her parents and her sister, Francis, preceded her in death.

LaRue was a lifelong resident of Salt Lake City. She provided many years of service for various departments of Utah State Government. She was a Job Placement Specialist for the Utah Department of Employment Security and upon retirement, served as an executive assistant at the Utah State Office of Education.

After retiring, she pursued her love of visual art by obtaining her Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Utah. She was an avid Bridge player and was a member of the American Contract Bridge League. She was also active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the American Association of University Women.

LaRue is survived by her son, Russ Snyder (Claudia), daughter Cheryl Tyson (Kelley), daughter Jan Newton (Mark) and son Mark Snyder (Margo), 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services to celebrate LaRue’s life will be held Monday, April 5, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th St., Ogden, Utah. Friends and family are invited to gather one hour prior to the service at the Leavitt’s Mortuary.

LaRue devoted her life to her family. She adored her children and found great joy in celebrating their lives with them. May she now rejoice in being with her family in Heaven. Prepare the way, mom. Until we are with you again…
