Audrey S. Collman

January 12, 1929 – April 19, 2015

“It’s a lovely day today, all your pounds and inches will melt away, Good morning, Lil Audrey speaking”.

Your Lil Audrey and our mother Audrey S. Collman, 86, a wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother and fitness pioneer passed away peacefully at her home in Ogden, Utah on Sunday April 19, 2015.

Audrey was born on January 12, 1929 in Haverstraw, New York to Harry and Jennie Aaron.

Audrey grew up in Haverstraw and graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1946. She later married Joel Collman on March 8, 1953 in Haverstraw.  In 1959, Audrey and Joel moved to Roy, Utah with their four young children: Celeste, Craig, Dwight and Marc. Two years later Bruce was born.

In 1963, as visionaries, Mom and Dad opened Lil Audrey’s Health Spa USA exclusively for women in Roy, Utah.  With the success of this location came a much larger newly remodeled location in Ogden at 441 20th street. For the next 43 years Lil Audrey’s was a well established fitness and wellness center that was our mother’s life’s work.  Equally important was mom’s efforts to ensure her children succeeded in their individual endeavors.

Mom is survived by four children: Celeste, Craig (Lisa), Dwight, Marc (Karen), eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joel, son Bruce and four siblings: Henry, Pearl, Philip and Dale.

It was my honor to know your wonderful family and feel, always, like a part of it. Thank you, Audrey, for your care, your humor and your quirky amazing ways. Although I'm not considered one of her weight-loss success stories, Audrey helped me through some bad times in my life, teaching me acceptance and grace on a level that became my level to shoot for. Although I hadn't seen her for awhile, her little sing song is in my head at least ONCE a week! I love you, Audrey - and I love your fantastic family. xoxoxoxo

I have known Audrey for 27 years. She was both a fitness guru and a close friend. I will miss her very much but I am happy she is with her soul mate, Joel. I will always treasure the memories I have of Audrey and her magnificent health spa. My deepest sympathy to all of her family ... she was one of a kind.

I am so saddened at Lil' Audrey's passing. I became a member of her wonderful spa and she helped me to lose weight and become fit. She was a lovely lady and a definite "people" person with only good things in her heart! She truly cared about people. I also admired her as a successful business woman and she was an inspiration for all women. Bless her for being Lil' Audrey and bringing joy and help to so many people. Sincere condolences, Sherry Harris

I just loved our Lil Audrey! I was one of the originals who went to the Roy studio to enjoy and work hard with Lil Audrey. She would keep us overnight so we wouldn't eat and gain weight! She helped me lose 80 lbs and bought me a new dress to celebrate it! I bought a lifetime pass and kept going until we moved from the Ogden area. She was just a fantastic person and I am sure she will tackle all the overweight angels in heaven and do her program with them. She was definitely "one of a kind" in her clever, witty way! Loved her.

I am so sorry for your loss. The Bible provides comfort during times of tragedy. At 1 Corinthians 15:26 we are promised that very soon 'death will be brought to nothing'. Then, we have the prospect of being reunited with our loved ones right here on this earth (John 5:28,29). I truly hope this has brought you comfort and hope. With deepest sympathies, Gwen and family.
