Beverly Ann Oleson, age 90, passed away on February 21, 2015. She was surrounded by her family when she passed away.
She was born on May 16, 1924 to Sigwauld Steensen and Hilda Raab in Des Moines, Iowa.
Beverly graduated from Fort Dodge High School in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was married to Willard (Ole) Oleson.
Beverly was raised in Waterloo, Iowa with her grandmother, then moved to Fort Dodge. After graduation, she moved to live with Aunt Louella Raab where she attended Purdue University at Lafayette, Indiana. She moved back to Fort Dodge where Beverly met Ole. Ole had joined the Army and got a chance to get into flight training in the Army Air Corp. While in cadet training, he proposed to her and she traveled to Greenville, South Carolina where she married the love of her life. They were married for 60 years before Ole passed away. Ole and Beverly traveled to many places during his active duty years with the Air Force including England, Germany, Okinawa and many Posts throughout the United States. Many times she had to move her little family while her husband had already been stationed at his new posting. She had many experience she had always cherished through her later years. They came to be stationed at Hill AFB in the late fifties and loved Utah. Then Ole was stationed to Okinawa. When his tour of duty was up in Okinawa, they decided to ask to be stationed back to Hill AFB where they retired from the Air Force. When Ole retired from the Civil Service in 1984, they started to travel throughout the United States. From her earlier years of travel with the Air Force, she had gained the love of travel and discovering the wonders of the United States. Her most memorable place to travel was on the Alcan Highway to Alaska.
She was proud to be one of the Greatest Generation.
They lived many years after they retired in Yuma, Arizona during the winter months. They came north to Utah for the summer months to visit with their grandchildren who they enjoy greatly. Many times they would take their family on vacations to the Grand Teton and Yellowstone which they enjoyed.
After the passing of her husband Ole she continued to live in Layton where her family was always around her until she passed away. We love and miss you Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother
