Carol Patricia Pomeroy Bain

June 25, 1936 - April 17, 2018

Carol Patricia Pomeroy Bain, 81, passed away April 17, 2018, in Ogden, Utah. She was born June 25, 1936, to Marjorie C. Pomeroy and James W. Pomeroy in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Carol went to small country schools in Kemmerer and then graduated with the first graduating class of Ben Lomond High School. Carol married Richard E. Bain; they later divorced.

Mom grew up on a cattle ranch just outside of Kemmerer, Wyoming. The winters there were harsh, and even the summers could be cold and windy. This taught mom to be tough, strong and determined.

She graduated with her degree in Nursing from Weber State College. She worked as an RN at the old Dee Hospital and at McKay Dee Hospital. As an RN she worked in various areas of the hospital. She especially enjoyed working graveyards in the Emergency Room, and on the orthopedic floor.

Mom enjoyed traveling in her younger years. She also loved reading a good mystery book, taking care of her cat, and she especially enjoyed her two grandchildren. Mom was a special lady who will be missed by all those who knew her.

Carol is survived by her loving daughter, Valerie J. Dixon; she is also loved by her two grandchildren, Brianna M. Dixon and Preston J. Dixon; and two of her close friends, Joan Moore, and Betsy Comish.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a close family friend, Connie Larson; and many cats that she cared for over the years.

Funeral Services will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street in Ogden, Utah, on Friday, April 20, 2018, at 2:00 pm. A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and again prior to services on Friday from 1:00 to 1:45 pm.

I would like to send my love to you at this difficult time. You don't know me but my Mother (Karen Hansen) knew your Mother at the Old Dee Hospital and at McKay Dee Hospital. My Mother had the upmost respect for your sweet Mother. I even worked at both hospitals starting at age 17 and as soon as I saw your Mother's name and the nursing cap, I KNEW that I knew her also... She was great dictated nurse...May you feel comfort at this time and ONLY our Father in Heaven can bestow upon us... Lynda Hansen Hartson

Carol was such a sweet lady. I had the blessing of helping her for the last couple of years with her Medicare insurance. I enjoyed sitting down with her and helping her with her prescriptions and making sure she was taken care of. I am so sorry for your loss. She will be greatly missed. Chuck Moore

I’m saddened to hear of Carol’s passing. I am sure that she and my Mother Natalie worked together at the Dee Hospital, and my mother often spoke of a Betsy. Rest In Peace. Sincerely, David Kozlowski
