Cathiene Wanda Bailey Thorsted “Cathy”

December 28, 1923 - September 22, 2013

Our precious angel, Cathilene (Cathy) Wanda Bailey Thorsted, peacefully passed away September 22, 2013, free to spread her wings.

She was born December 28th, 1923 in Chehalis, Washington to Ivon Bailey and Laura Kitchel.

On December 11th, 1943 she married George Russell Thorsted in Hoquiam, Washington, in her parents’ front room, which began a legacy of 70 years.  They started a family together in Myrtle Creek, Oregon after the war.  They had 2 sons, William (Bill) and Gary Thorsted.

She enjoyed tending to her roses, gardening, dancing, camping, the beaches of Oregon and Washington, and mostly, spending time with her family.  She took pride in her family and never let a moment go by that they didn’t know they were loved. She worked at Boeing and IRS and was known as “Rosie the Riveter” during the war.  She had a special gift of capturing the hearts of all who met her.

Wise words from an amazing lady that knew what she was doing: “My advice to my children and grandchildren as they marry, is to be open, honest, share the good, The easy and The hard.  find the easiest and the best solution for both of you…And be happy… As you have children, let them know and feel that they are loved.  Let them have no questions that they belong there.  Be good to your children and don’t lose your temper.”   – – With love, Cathy

She is survived by her husband, George Russell Thorsted; sons, William Thorsted, Gary Thorsted;  grandchildren, Michael (Elisabeth) Thorsted, Greg (Donna) Thorsted, Amie (Robert) Jensen Barbeiri and 7 great grandchildren.  She loved each and every one of them beyond measure.  Her contagious hugs and smile will be missed but never forgotten.

A special thank you to all of the staff at Crestwood Care Center and Emeritus for the loving care they gave her.

Graveside Services will be held Friday Sept. 27, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden.  A viewing  will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Leavitts Mortuary, 836 36th Street.   Online condolences may be made at leavittsmortuary.com

Bill, your mom was a great lady. It was always fun to go around the corner to your house and play. She was always so nice to the neighborhood kids. She lived a long life, something to be truly grateful for.

Dear Uncle George, Bill, Gary, and loved ones .... Our love and prayers are being sent your way in the loss of our beloved Aunt Cathy. As Erika posted, we have so many amazing memories of our camping trips and family events - I especially remember our family trip to Yellowstone and how Aunt Cathy tried so hard to make me feel better since I spent the entire journey being miserably carsick :). I could go on and on about the special times we shared ..... I love how she called Daddy her "little brudder" and how Del's girls would climb up in her lap at any given moment. We are blessed to have had her in our lives and will always cherish her memory. With great love always, Kasha, Mark and the boys

Uncle George, Bill, Gary & Family, We are so sad to hear that Aunt Cathy passed away. We have so many wonderful memories of her. All the visits and camping trips. I always would laugh when something didn't go right and she would always say " Shucky darn". As I look back on all the times they came to visit, some of my fondest memories of Aunt Cathy sitting with all of Del's girls. They were little then and they would take turns sitting on her lap. Shelby and her had a special bond. I don't know what it was, but if Aunt Cathy's lap was open, Shelby would be in it in a flash. We just want all of you to know that we are praying for you and that Aunt Cathy will be dearly missed by all of us. We loved her so much. Erika & the whole Foley Family

Bill, I am saddened to hear of your mothers passing. My prayers are with you and your family. Having lost my parents years ago, I understand. your pain. I hope you have many memories of your mother to help you through these times. I got to know your mother more while working at IRS, and she always impressed me as being a very special person. Very sincere and genuine.
