Dollie Melissa Murdock Mikkelsen

September 26, 1923 - January 15, 2014

Dollie Melissa (Murdock) Mikkelsen 90, returned to her loving Father in Heaven and to those loved ones who passed before her, on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Although she suffered with advanced Alzheimer’s disease, a severe heart attack took her from us suddenly.
Dollie was born in Rockford, Idaho on September 26, 1923 to LeRoy Jefferson Murdock and Melissa Olive (Cheney) Murdock.
She married the love of her life, Svend Alvin Mikkelsen on February 21, 1942 in Preston, Idaho, and later they were joined for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Dollie graduated from Ogden High School in 1941. She didn’t hold a job until all her children were in school, and then she worked at Hill Air Force Base supply, retiring after 25 years.
Dollie was a very strong and religious woman. She had many roadblocks in her life, but she overcame all of them with perseverance and a smile. Her loving husband, Svend, passed on 30 years ago, yet even though alone, she remained positive, productive and active in the Church, serving several positions in the Relif Society and serving a home mission. Dollie’s parents instilled in her the love of God and His Gospel, perseverance, faith and a wonderful sense of humor. She was a wonderful example for her family and friends. She was devoted to her Temple work and enjoyed genealogy. She had a very strong testimony and was not timid about sharing it with others.
She loved her family and throughout the years enjoyed much camping, hunting, fishing and boating. She was very talented at crocheting and quilting and made many exquisite quilts and throws for the family.
Dollie lived up to her cute name. She was a joy to be around and was always upbeat. She will truly be missed by everyone who knew her.
The family would like to express a grateful “Thank You” to all of the staff at Willow Glen Health and Rehab in Brigham City and the caring Bristol Hospice workers who attended to her in her last few months.
Dollie is survived by her daughter Shirlie (Darwin) Henrie Clinton,UT and her daughter Joyce (Jack) Monson Willard, UT. Six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great/great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by husband Svend, son David, her mother and father, her brothers Kenneth and Rexall, sister Alta Millie and two grandsons, Thomas and Travis
