Forest H Lloyd

July 19, 1923 - January 1, 1970

Forest Harper Lloyd was born on July 19, 1922. He was the son of Samuel Norton Lloyd and Lureta Celia Harper Lloyd. He died on June 15, 2011, just 34 days after his beloved wife Mary Jane returned to her heavenly home.Forest and Mary were married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 26, 1943 and were the parents of 7 children. He served in the Air Force during World War II and was training to be a pilot when the war ended and he was discharged. Forest is survived by his sister Gayla Dye of Uintah, Utah; four daughters, Gloria Stokes of Oxnard, California, Janean Hughey of Wendover, Nevada, Susan Escajuri of Richland, Washington, and Christa Johnson of Fair Oaks, California; one daughter-in-law, Amy Gemar of Shelly, Idaho; and one son, Russell Lloyd of Boise, Idaho. Forest was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane, a daughter, Coleen Marie, who passed away at birth, and a son Samuel Graig Lloyd, who died in an automobile accident at the age of 28. Forest and Mary leave 37 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren.Forest was a loving devoted father and husband and had many talents and hobbies. He loved to draw and paint. He loved to “tinker” and create things. He was an Electrician by trade and had just received a certificate of congratulations for 65 years as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical workers.He loved to sing and for many years he travelled and sang with the Utah Valley Men of Song.He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many leadership positions in his church. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and was a pillar of strength in his family. He will be missed.A memorial service will be held at the Leavitt’s Chapel in Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah on Friday, June 24th. There will be a viewing at 11:00 a.m. and a funeral service at 12:00 noon.
