George Russell Thorsted

November 7, 1920 - November 11, 2015

Our hero passed away November 11, 2015, after celebrating his 95th birthday on November 7, 2015.

We are so proud of his many accomplishments.  He has reunited with his beautiful bride, Cathilene, of nearly 70 years.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, walking many miles every day, but mostly family.  He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend.

He proudly served our country by joining the Coast Guard and serving during World War II and the Cold War where he earned several medals.

His memory will live on through his sons, William and Gary; his grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth), Greg (Donna) and Amy (Robert); seven great grandchildren and his surviving brothers, Glen and Ray.  He will be dearly missed, but we will all carry on with great memories.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Cathilene, and brothers, Ed and Blaine.

A  Viewing will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.

Bill, What a long and wonderful life for your father. From what was written, it seems that you had a lot a common with your dad. Peace now in this troubled world. Be well William.

Bill, As always, my thoughts and prayers go out for you and your family. I've known you for years, and it takes a heck of a man to raise a son like you. I am sure he will be sorely missed by those he left behind. A part of him stays with you, where-ever you travel. Dan

My dearest Bill. You're in my heart and prayers. I think of this quote for your father and I'm not sure who wrote it. "God saw him getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered "Come to Me"... He's now with your mother. Peace...

Billy, Sorry your Dad has passed. Still, it feels good to connect with you a lot of years after HS. We had some great times back then. I see you live in Minnesota, we used to live in Marshall for several years. Hope your grief turns positive Bill, thinking about you. Craig Warner
