Obituary for Gloria Dell Yarbrough

Gloria Dell Yarbrough

December 4, 1946 - January 8, 2016

Del Yarbrough, 69, returned home January 8, 2016 at Crestwood Care Center.  She was born December 4, 1946 to Martha Ellen Earnest and Wallace Hooper Borders in Langdale, Alabama.  Del graduated from Wadley High School.  She married Virgil Yarbrough on March 10, 1968.

Del was a loving wife, mother, and friend.  She devoted her life to her family and serving in the LDS church.  Through her years as an Air Force wife, she made dear friends in Florida, South Carolina, England and Utah.  Later, her years in Crestwood Care Center added even more friends to her collection.  She was loved by everyone who knew her.

Del was known for her loving sweetness, cooking (especially fried chicken), and her love of the Alabama football team “Roll Tide!”.  Through all the places she lived and loved in, Alabama was always Home.

The family wishes to thank all who have shown love and friendship to Del, and the staff (angels) of Crestwood Care Center and Hospice for their kind and constant love and service.

Del is survived by her children:  Matthew (April), Laura (James) Johnston, Jason, Joshua, Daniel, Amanda, Mark (Crystal), and 14 grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Some of my most cherished memories of Del are from our days at RAF Bentwaters in England, with the U. S. Air Force. She was so loving & strong & helped me deal with a very tough family trial. We served together in the Relief Society Presidency & I just looked up to her so much & felt she was such an example to me. I corresponded with her through the years & have been lucky enough to visit her over the last few years, though I don't live in Utah. I am sad for the loss of her, but joyous in the knowledge that she is free from pain & the burden that our mortal bodies can be. I pray that her family here on earth will find comfort..... I pray that she may have the most amazing reunions.....that she will take with her all of the love that those here on earth have for her....that she may be at peace beyond the veil & wrapped in total love, comfort & Joy! We will miss you Del....until we meet again......Suellen and Mike Behling

My sympathies go out to your family. Del was amazing. I loved her accent and felt of her love. I remember the day I was frustrated with Jeff hugging yet another person in church and your mom looked me square in the face and said, "It bothers you more than it bothers us, leave the boy alone." That was the adjustment my attitude needed and I still reflect on it today. She was a great example and I loved her!

My deepest sympathies to your family. Del was my visiting teacher many years ago. What a fun person to talk to! I loved her awesome Alabama accent. She always made me feel like I was the most important person in the room. Del will be missed and remembered by anyone that knew her. God be with you, Del, until we meet again. Sincerely, Pam Blanch
