Harold Duane Harris, born May 14, 1923 to Everett Austin Harris and Bertha McCoy in Ft. Lupton, Colorado. He died June 4, 2014 in West Valley City, Utah from causes relating to old age. Duane married Dona Bieler November 6, 1942, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

Duane led a full life. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the beginning of WWII and served with honor. Following the war, he attended and graduated from BYU with his master’s degree in geology and immediately started a great adventure with Shell Oil.

He was blessed with many wonderful friends and adventures that took him around the country. He owned his own oil drilling company and later in life a geology consulting firm. Duane was a shining example of generosity and hospitality to all that knew him. His word was his bond, and any handshake was a contract. Duane was a shining example of a man of good character, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He valued his family, country, friends and any man of honor.

Duane is survived by his wife; brother Leroy Harris; children Duane Bieler Harris, Michael Glenn Harris (Letha), daughter Nanon Harris Record (Michael), Robin Bieler Harris (Cathy), Kevin Bieler Harris; 19 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Shadow Valley Ward House, 5191 South Old Post Rd, Ogden, Utah, at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Interment will be at the Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park, Ogden, UT.

Dear Dona and Family: We are saddened my Duane's passing. He was a fine man, we enjoyed his friendship through the years as neighbors in Granger and later friends in Saint George.
