Isabella “Mickey” Clay

August 28, 1922 - October 10, 2016

Isabella M. Clay (Mickey) passed away October 10, 2016 at McKay Dee Hospital at the age of 94.  She was born August 28, 1922 to William J. and Estelle Harris McKee in Hatley, Georgia.

Mickey graduated from high school in Phoenix, Arizona where she majored in Business.

She married Benton M. Clay in Phoenix, Arizona on October 3, 1942.  He was a Lt. Col. in the Air Force and preceded her in death on August 31, 2002.

Mickey was an active member and past President of the Cosmopolitan Club. She enjoyed social activities and playing Mah Jong.  She worked at the Baggage Car Gift Shop at the Hilton Hotel for 17 years and loved meeting people.

Mickey enjoyed playing Canasta and Phase 10 with her family, walking along the Weber River Trail, going to Bear Lake, and having dinner at her daughters’ homes. Her favorite restaurant was Village Inn where she always ordered the 2+2+2.  She also loved completing crossword puzzles and reading the paper.

Mom will be missed by all that knew and loved her.  We take comfort in reuniting her with family, and of all the good memories she left for us who must live on without her.

She is survived by her children: Arlene Clay, Portland, OR., Janet (Larry) Price, Coos Bay, OR., Charlotte (James) Torghele, Ogden, UT., Karen (Rick) Nelson, Seattle, WA., Sharon (Mark) Hall, Ogden, UT., Debbie (Ralph) Hess, Ogden, UT., 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and her sister, Anne Wilson, Denver, CO.

Mickey was preceded in death by one brother, three sisters, her son, Benton M. (Bud) Clay Jr., a grandson, Brandon Price, granddaughter, Beverly Slater (Brian) Mauck, and great-grandchildren, Tyson Nelson and Ty Torghele.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff on the Medical, IMC Units and IHC Hospice for the exceptional care they provided.

A private graveside service will be held at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park, October 14, 2016.

Dear Charlotte, Karen, Sharon, and Debbie, I am slowly catching up what I missed and I was sorry to read your Mom, Mickey, passed away. What a great legacy she left behind. She was always so nice when I would come over to hang out with Karen. Debbie married Ralph, and Charlotte I would see every now and again. My Mother passed away January 10, 2012 and I think of her everyday. We never forget our parents, they are always close to you. I have felt my first husband touch me at moments with our children and Grandchildren events. So wait and pray for your Mom, and you may one day have this same feeling overtake you. My sincere condolences to all the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

I don't need to tell you what a wonderful, beautiful, woman your mother, grandmother, was. Today I'm remembering the times I spent with Mickey on occasion, at the theater, and cabin at the lake. Thoughts and prayers, Love to all of you her family.
