Johanna (Hanna) Meents

October 19, 1933 - June 17, 2016

Johanna (Hanna) Meents, 82, passed away in South Ogden of Alzheimer’s disease.  Hanna was born October 19, 1933 to Peter and Louisa Nieuwenburg in Amsterdam, Holland.

She married Jerry Meents on October 29, 1951 in Amsterdam, Holland.  Hanna immigrated to Ogden, Utah in 1957, along with her husband and 5 year old son.  She lived most of her life in Ogden, where she established many warm and long lasting friendships.

Hanna was a devoted wife and mother who took great pride in keeping a clean and tidy home.  Her day revolved around having a well prepared dinner, to the delight of her husband and family.  Dutch apple pie, boterkoek, and homemade bread were the family favorites.

Hanna enjoyed numerous visits to Holland, but was always happy to return to her home in Ogden.

She had a special place in her heart for animals of all sorts.  Seymour, a small Maltese mix was her favorite pet.

Hanna was a very special lady who will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

The family would like to express “Thank You” to Dr. Scott Moulton, the staff at “The Cottages” at Legacy House, and a special “thank you” to her CNS Hospice Services nurse, Lea.

Hanna is survived by her husband, Jerry; children: David (Pat), Mark (Jera), Shelly Arave (Brett); seven grandchildren:  Jennifer, Jessica, Katie, AJ, Brett, Stephanie, Morgan; and eight great-grandchildren.

Hanna was preceded in death by her parents and sister.

To Jerry, David and Mark, I was so sad to see the obituary. I loved visiting and working with your family each year at Costley and Littrell, CPA's and then Steven Davis and Associates CPA's. No one could bring a smile to my face better and quicker than Jerry and Hannah. Please know of my love for you and my deepest sympathies.

Jerry: I am very saddened to hear the news about Hanna. I often wondered why I didn't see you at High Holiday Services. I remember Hanna as a woman full of life. She will be missed by all. I am sorry that I will not be able to get back to Ogden. I am currently in Florida at a Boy Scout camp and am not returning home until August. Please know that I will be thinking of you, Hanna and the family. Jacques Behar
