Condolences for John W. Swanke

John Swanke had an unassuming, easygoing manner that could put people at ease in a busy setting—such as large family gatherings where I imagine we all sometimes felt a little uncertain about who everybody was as our extended families grew larger. John always made a special effort to make the rounds thoroughly on such occasions, quietly greeting everyone and making sure that everybody felt welcome. I always regarded him as an apt companion for Daneen, my first cousin once removed, for they both seemed to share an inner calmness that one could strongly sense. It is hard to believe that John is no longer with us. I feel that my father, Bob Berger, my sister, Tawni (Ralph) Porter, and my brother, Butch (Syd) Pryor, will not mind if I take it upon myself to extend our family's condolences and to offer our regrets for our absence from the services, as our schedules unfortunately disallowed our attendance. Our thoughts and best wishes are with you. (Rest in peace, John.)

Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of John. I worked with him for many years in the F-4 TCG and enjoyed him very much. So sorry for your loss.
