Marvin Cloyd Jones of Clinton, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and friend passed away on May 29, 2013. Marvin was born on May 5, 1926 in Vernal, Utah, a son of Owen Edward Jones and Martha Mae Hatch. He married Idonna DeGroot in 1946 with whom he had three children. Idonna later passed away in 2001. He then married his current wife, Jeanne Rigby Mooney on May 20, 2002.
He graduated from Davis High and Utah State University. He was a member of the LDS Church and served as scout leader many times. He was an avid rock and mineral hunter which took him to many states, finding many friends along the way. He was a member of NUPA and the Golden Spike Gem & Mineral Society. He also enjoyed photography and gardening. He was a disabled veteran of WWII. He taught for 35 years as an elementary teacher.
Marvin is survived by his second wife, Jeanne Rigby Mooney Jones; children, Camille (Brent) Anderson, Greg (Bev) Jones, Clayton (Jeanine) Jones; brothers, Gerald Jones and Gawin Jones; sister, Nila Robins; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Marvin was preceded in death by his first wife Idonna DeGroot Jones and grandson Brock Jones.
Funeral Services will be held Monday June 3, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street. Friends may visit with the family at the same location on Sunday Evening from 6-8 p.m. and from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to services on Monday. Interment: Aultorest Memorial Park.
