Raymond Glenn Wilson, 61, passed away May 3, 2015. He was born January 16, 1954 to Richard and Coleen Wilson in North Hollywood, California. Ray is the oldest of 3 brothers. Kevin Wilson resides in Utah. Alan Wilson, the youngest brother, resides in Arizona. Ray graduated in 1972 from Cleveland High School in Reseda, California where he was the first recipient of the Mike Verity Memorial award for excellence in athletics and leadership. He attended College of the Canyons on a football scholarship. He also attended and graduated from California State University, Northridge.
Ray went from college to the work force. He then attended the police academy and was hired by Anaheim Police Department. From Anaheim he moved to San Bernardino County California to work with the Rialto City Police Department. He was then hired at the City of Perris Police Department. This is where he met his wife, Kym. While at Perris Police Department he rose to the rank of Lieutenant. After leaving police work he was very successful in sales. He was a top salesman and manager of his own branch store with Electrolux. Ray and Kym worked together at Electrolux.
Ray and Kym loved to travel. They took a beautiful trip to Italy in 1998 that included Rome, Florence and Venice. Ray loved to visit his children and grandchildren in Washington State. Ray loved sports and the outdoors. Joe’s Valley was the one place he got away from it all, relaxed and enjoyed himself. As a youth Ray would spend entire summers with his grandparents in Joe’s Valley. He loved being in the mountains, riding horses, hunting and fishing. Ray and Kym loved spending as much time as they could together at the cabin. It was their favorite get away place.
Ray was devoted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His testimony was strong and he honored his priesthood. He held many callings and fulfilled those callings to the best of his ability.
Ray and Kym met through police work. They were partners on the force and in their lives together. Ray and Kym were best friends before becoming a couple and marrying. Their love for each other is eternal. They were married in a civil ceremony in San Bernardino, California. Kym is a convert to the church and was baptized by Ray. They were later married and sealed in the St. George Temple.
Ray is survived by his wife Kym; son Steven (Mary Kate) Richardson, from a previous marriage; step daughter Amanda Wilson; two brothers: Kevin (Sandy) and Alan (Deneen) Wilson; 8 nieces and nephews; 2 grandchildren.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Coleen Wilson; his grandparents: Clyde and Alberta Brandon and Stanley and Alta Wilson.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Mt. Lewis 2nd Ward, 435 North Jackson Avenue, Ogden, Utah.
