Robert Lindsey Roberts

October 5, 2017 - October 1, 2017

Robert Lindsey Roberts, age 59, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 1, 2017. Robert was born August 5, 1958, the first of six children born to Karen Ann and Robert Roberts Jr. He was born in Hyrum, Utah, a place that he would grow to love and hoped to one-day return to. Robert graduated from Corrigan-Camden High School in 1977. In 1979, he joined the United States Marine Corps as a radio operator/prison escort. This is where he developed a lifelong love for the military. On March 17, 1987, Robert married the love of his life Julie Widmer Roberts and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Dallas temple. In 1988 they adopted their only daughter, Christina who brought much joy and light into their lives and in 1989 they were sealed together as a family. After 17 years of marriage, Julie passed away. On May 8, 2010, he married his beautiful companion Kara Hirneisen whom he was blessed to spend the remainder of his days with.
Rob spent many years working in law enforcement and for the Department of Corrections. He loved his job working as a court liaison for the juvenile court system. One of Rob’s favorite jobs, however, was to teach people to drive and all of the challenges that came from that. He was also an active member of the LDS Church and spent much of his time working with the young men’s program. Rob encouraged each young man to get their Eagle Scout by taking them to Maddox and letting them order whatever they wanted to celebrate! Rob also had a great love for music, cartoons, comic books, movies and football, which he loved to debate, share, and teach to anyone that would listen. He often referred to himself as a Star Trek Geek. Rob had a fascination for airplanes and military history and often loved to build models and share the new things that he learned. His favorite quote, however, was from Star Wars, “Do or do not, there is no try” a motto he lived by throughout his life.
Robert L. Roberts is survived by his mother, Karen Ann Roberts of Ogden, Utah; daughter, Christina (Brandon) Bodily of Ogden, Utah; spouse, Kara Roberts; brothers, Dale Roberts of Ogden, Utah, Eric K. (Trichelle) Roberts of West Jordan, Utah, Col. Tracy J. (LaVieve) Roberts of Santaquin, Utah and Joseph R. (Kayla) Roberts III of Dayton, Texas; five grandchildren, Hunter, Braxton, Colton Brooklyn and Ryker; and many nieces and nephews, all whom he loved very much.
Rob will be greeted in heaven by his wife, Julie; his father, Robert Roberts Jr; his sisters, Valerie K James and Jeanie Roberts and countless other family that will welcome him with open arms.

I am so sorry for your loss, Kara. When I met Robert and you in Pennsylvania, we had a great time. He was kind, spirited, fun of joy, and personable. Unfortunately, the world has lost a great man. We just have to use our memories to drive us to continue to spread joy. HUGS, HUGS, HUGS, and more HUGS from Florida.
