Rodney Garth Dalton

April 3, 1938 - August 28, 2012

Rodney Garth Dalton, 74, started his next chapter on August 28th, 2012. He was born on April 3rd, 1938 to Edith (Fox) Dalton and Garth Dalton in Circleville, Utah. In his younger years, Rodney enjoyed customizing hot rod cars, baseball and road trips. His paint skills on his hot rods lead to his career as paint supervisor at several companies in Utah. The love of his hobbies continued throughout his life and later Rodney found a new passion – genealogy. He spent many hours researching his family history. He has several Dalton books published, and he and his cousin, Arthur Whittaker have created a website with great history detail about the Dalton’s, Whittaker’s and Circleville This brought him great joy and he was very proud of what he accomplished and always wanted to share it with the world. Rodney was able to travel to England and see his ancestral roots. He cherished the memories of that trip. Rodney is survived by his daughter, Kristina L. Dalton Dean (Kevin), his grandchildren, Jason Welch, Andrea (Welch) Allison, Ashley Dowdy, Kaden Dean and Jesse Dean, 3 great grandchildren, his sister, Sheila (Dalton) Garrard and his brother, Russell Dalton. Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Garth Dalton, his mother, Edith Dalton, his wife, Tracy Dalton, his son, Scott Welch and his favorite dog, Brindle. Rod was a good friend and I enjoyed working with him at Petersen, Inc. He was very compassionate about his work and was always excited to find a new adventure. He loved to share stories while he worked and I am grateful to have been able to work with him.

Sorry to hear of Rod's passing, He was a good friend and spent many hours working on projects at Petersen's. He was always happy to talk Hot Rods and bring his photo albums for us to look at. His hard hat with self painted flames in the custom car style was one of his favorite subjects. He was always willing to go the extra mile to make someone else's life easier and we enjoyed his great sense of humor. He will be missed by all of us here at Petersen Inc.Tom Burkland

Rod, You have left a great legacy in behalf of both the Dalton and Whittaker families. Your untiring search for your ancestors and your gift of story telling will bless many future generations of both the Dalton and Whittaker families. I am very sorry to see you go. I will miss you and all the good times that we worked together on our genealogy pursuits. Keep up the good work on the other side of the vail. Now we have a great advantage, we have a presence on both sides of the vail. Help me to finish your work on this side of the vail. Your Cousin,Arthur Whittaker
