Russell Brent “Bo” Bothwell

May 23, 1940 - October 10, 2016

Brent passed away October 10, 2016 surrounded by family due to complications from Clostridium difficile (C-Diff) at Ogden Regional Hospital. Special thanks to Ogden Regional ICU staff and Envision Home Health for their continued support.

Brent was born May 23, 1940 to Wesley Raymond Bothwell and Catherine Rhea Bowden in Ogden, Utah.  On April 8, 1964 he married Carolyn Ruth Peterson, surprisingly, after 52 years of marriage they only disagreed about once or twice a day.  This is particularly poignant given his propensity for arguing and the fact that he was known to change positions in a disagreement, simply so the argument could continue.

Brent is survived by his wife Carolyn, two children; Pamela (Dennis) Bergendorf, and Christopher (Wenona) Bothwell, and Brother Jack (Maye) Bothwell.  Brent has five grandchildren; Amber, Elias, Ava, Iain, and Autumn.

Brent resided in the Ogden area for his entire life.  After an enlistment in the Army, he worked at Hill Air Force Base for 27 years.  During his time at Hill he held many different positions until retiring in 1993.  After retiring, Brent hanging around the house proved too much for Carolyn so she sent him to the Timbermine Restaurant where he worked part-time for another 15 years, fully retiring in 2009.  Brent was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, traveling and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held in his honor at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah. Monday, October 17th at 11:00 A.M. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made in Brent’s name to the C-Diff Foundation at: https://cdifffoundation.org/donate/.

Interment will be at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.

Carolyn and Family, I'm so very sorry to hear that Brent has passed. I have memories of the family gatherings at Jack and Maye's. Brent's great smile along with his teasing all the kids, and yes the cuteness of his bantering with you Carolyn. The obituary was awesome and certainly told his story well!! Love and prayers to your family and may the wonderful fond memories help during this difficult time.
