Samuel Lenton Hamilton

December 27, 1996 - September 15, 2015

Samuel Lenton Hamilton passed away on September 15, 2015.

Sam was born December 27, 1996 in Majuro, Marshall Islands.

Sam was a 2015 graduate of Bonneville High School where he played trumpet in the band, was a founding member of the chess crew, and was the manager of the girls’ volleyball team.  He was a student at Weber State University interested in a degree in Computer Science.  Sam was the 2012 Northern Utah Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association where he raised awareness about his disease.  Sam never let his disability hold him back.  He played soccer.  He was a Boy Scout.  He loved to travel and see new places.

Sam was musically gifted, playing trumpet, drums and piano.  He was a member of the Weber County Honor Band and the Weber State University Honor Orchestra.  He was an avid and skillful video game player.  He made many on-line friends across the country.  He loved animals and had a special ability to connect with them.  Sam was proud of his Marshallese heritage and was trying to learn the language.

Sam was blessed with wonderful friends throughout his life who saw past his handicap and just treated him as their best buddy and Sam loved them for that.  Sam was the most kind-hearted, generous, and funny person imaginable.  His smile and dimples lit up a room.  He made it his personal mission to take care of his friends and family.

We will all miss you Sammy Bammy.

Sam is survived by his parents David and Vickie Hamilton, his brother Nick and sister Mallory; aunt Judy (Chris) Hennefer; cousin Ryan Rogerson; grandparents Malcolm and Jeanette Hamilton and Irvin Smith; uncle Glenn Hamilton; uncle Paul (Lynne) Hamilton; uncle Gary Hamilton; uncle Todd (Julie) Hamilton; aunt Barbara (Stewart) Smith; aunt Marian (Scott) Flint; uncle Morris (Sherry) Smith and many cousins.  Sam is also survived by his birth family:  parents Hertin and Toine Lavin; sister Kinta Lavin; brothers Joti and Herrington Lavin; and brother Brendan McCarty.

Dear Vickie, Dave, Nick, and Mallory, Bill, I, Michelle, and Sara feel so incredibly sorry for your loss. We have all been reminiscing about the times we did get to spend with Sam including the dinosaur exhibit in Ogden and in Salt Lake. Although the times we spent were too few, Sam touched our hearts and we are so very, very sad that his life was cut short, but we know you gave him a very, very happy life which shines through in all the pictures you posted. I know in return he gave you so much love and special memories to cherish. We will make a donation to Muscular Dystrophy on his behalf, a very special young man who I know you are so very, very proud of. We love you guys more than you know and we will miss him too.
