Seth Conrad Nelson

September 8, 1972 - August 1, 2015

Our beloved Seth Conrad Nelson (42) passed away suddenly of a heart attack on August 1, 2015.

Seth was born on September 8, 1972 to Lynn Edward Nelson and JaAnna Jean Bowen in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Seth grew up in Salt Lake County, Utah. He graduated from Granger High School in 1990, and earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree from Utah State University in 2001.

Seth served a mission for the LDS church in the Argentina, Trelew / Neuquén Mission.

He was sealed to his high school sweetheart, Loralee Wallis, in the Salt Lake Temple on May 17, 1996.

Seth worked in the IT department at Thiokol, and more recently enjoyed working as a Preservation Planner at the Church History Library of the LDS Church.

Seth had a deep and abiding love for his family. He was an affectionate, caring, supportive, committed and adoring husband. He devoted much of his time to serving and loving his children, empowering them to make good decisions and be prepared for amazing lives. He appreciated the liberty God gave each of us to learn and grow, and to become like Him. He was a problem solver, thinking things through with logic and reason, and helping lead others to truth.  He loved to have lively discussions and dig deeper on important issues.  He was a leader, a listener, and a teacher. He was a kind, “gentle giant” of a man.

He is survived by his wife Loralee Wallis Nelson; children Miriam, Melydi, Kaycia, Malachi, and Enoch; parents, Lynn and JaAnna Nelson; siblings, Ammon (Heather) Nelson, Joel (Joy) Nelson, Marcela (Danny) Christensen, Jarom (Michele) Nelson, Athena (Cannon) Meza, Celeste (Tracy) Druce, Kaleb (Sarah) Nelson, Teresa (Mike) Hopkins, Brin (John) Coulter;  37 nephews 29 nieces and many more in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who love him very much.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the West Point 14th Ward building; 2852 West 300 North, West Point, Utah. Friends and family may call from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

watching the video probably was the most touching video I have seen in a very long time. Losing Seth has really broken my heart for many reasons. The memories of all us kids running around grandma and grandpa's and going camping and the sleep overs at Lynn's and JaAnna's. He turned into an amazing man and will surely miss all the post's and how he stood up for what he believed in, he without question was a very intelligent loving person that will truly be missed by many.

I have so many fun memories of Seth and Loralee from High School, and then for a short time in Logan, Utah, where my husband Ben and I attended USU with Seth. Their oldest daughter and our oldest son were tiny toddlers at the time. Seth and Lor were such good friends and good people. Seth made the extra effort to be a good husband and father. He spent hours in the temple as a worker while he was a young single adult. He gave me some wonderful advise just before I came home from my mission--the kind of advice that must have been inspired. He took the time to come to my mother's funeral a few years ago, even though it had been years since our high school friendship. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

We serve in the same area as Seth in the Church History Library, and I was always impressed with his gentle spirit, and the way he always said "love you" on the phone to his wife. We will miss him here. Bless you with good memories.

JaAnna & Lynn: We are so very sorry to hear of your son's passing. It will definitely leave a huge hole in your family, only Heavenly Father and our Saviour can ease that pain. We pray that your hearts will be comforted through this very difficult ordeal. We love you both and our prayers and thoughts are with you.

I was saddened to hear of Seth's passing. Seth worked in the Church History Library and helped me with some special projects relating to the records of the Church General Authorities and Church Departments. Electronic record keeping is a whole new world for me and he was very helpful in explaining the processes and procedures; and especially the terminology! Acronyms are the name of the game in the technical work and he was patient with me in ensuring that I understood how to preserve the records of the Church in the most effective way possible. I will miss him here, and know he will be greatly missed there at home. My love and best wishes go out to you and your family at this time.

The first time I met Seth was when I met his family. His younger brother being my so-in-law brought me in touch with such an outstanding group who love family, are kind to each other and set quite an example for those around them. Seth and Loralee are two of my daughter's best friends and I know that there will be a big hole to fill now that Seth is gone. We do know that the Lord has something for him to do because he was such a valiant person. My love and condolences to a very special family.

I still can't believe that he's gone. There are no words to express the value Seth has to so many, his sweet wife Lor, his kids, his family and so many others whose lives he was a part of and that he impacted for good. And that's the main thing that we can say about Seth, he is truly a good man and that good rubbed off on so many others. We are better for having known him, and we have suffered deep loss now that he's no longer with us in this life. Rest easy, our Great Big Teddy Bear. We love you and your family so much!
