My Mother, Charlene Mortensen Metzler, was first cousins with Sophie. They shared a Birthday 9 days apart. Mom would always call Sophie on her Birthday and ask her how it felt to be a year older, They always shared a laugh about that. Mom spoke fondly of Sophie. Mom and Dad would always enjoy a nice visit with Sophie and Bud on their many visits back home for school re-unions. My Mother passed away on January 21st, 2011, also struggling with dementia. They are now in a better place with family and friends and each other. Sophie was a wonderful lady. Condolences to her family and friends.

I will always remember Sophie as my second MOM, she took Tom and I under her wing when we first moved here. Tom was a young Capt. and I was in charge of Hillary at the time. Sophie looked after Hillary when I had Brittney. We were best friends with Sophie and Bud. She taught me much about canning and quilting. Always unselfish and always willing to help us out. She could remember jokes like I never can and always could see the bright side of life. We will miss her terribly but know she is in a much better place. We love you Sophie and Bud Tom and LInda
