Val D Hale, age 83, of South Ogden, Utah, dear husband, father and grandfather passed away on April 22, 2017, of causes incident to age.

Val was born in Ogden, Utah, on February 17, 1934, the son of Lewis and Anna (Gailey) Hale. He attended Weber High School. Val married Kay (Ward) on June 26, 1954; they were married 62 wonderful years. Val and Kay were deeply in love and you would never see one without the other.  Val was proud to support his country as a war veteran and served in the Army during the Korean War.  Val retired from South Ogden City after 30 years as a city building inspector. Val was a Charter Member of the Roy Fire Department.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, ATV trail riding and traveling.  He especially enjoyed his summers at Sourdough Ranch and winters at Beaver Dam, AZ.  He was an avid cyclist and won several medals at the senior games.  He taught hunter safety for many years.  He was a volunteer for the Division of Wildlife Services.  He was a great dad and grandfather always there to lend a helping hand telling stories of family history and genealogy along with a quick joke or two.

Val is survived by his wife, Kay; 2 children: Kie (Cindy), Del (Kim). He leaves behind 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Also, his brother Seth and his sister Alana.

Val is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Anna three sisters: Laurene, Gaylene and Margie; and one brother Ernie.

Uncle Val you we will miss you! I remember growing up with Kie, Dale, Aunt Kay, and you. How much fun it was at your older house you had went I was young. The good times we would have when all of family would get together. Kay and you are great. We wished that we would of strayed in touch better, instead of getting so caught up in life so much. We want you to know that we have great memories and love for all of you. Karen has from the first time she met you, Kay. She fell in love with her sense of humor, personality and Val's gentle smile. Our deepest sympathy to Kay and family. We could always count on our industrious neighbor, Val, for a friendly greeting, a happy smile and an engaging story. We will miss his good will and good advise. May your strong family ties lessen the pain and bring comfort to one another during this most difficult time. Rex, Anita and Pam Bean

Very fond memories of ATV'ing in the desert south of Mesquite with Val and his son Del and friends. We would be out for hours and Kay would pack the most delicious sandwiches for lunch. A great man and family. Deepest sympathy
