William Child Painter passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at his home in Kaysville, Utah after a lengthy illness.
William was born August 23, 1945 in Ogden and always considered Ogden his home. He graduated from Bonneville High. After graduation, he served in the Utah National Guard. He later earned a certificate in diesel mechanics from Weber College. He worked as a diesel mechanic, dispatcher, and truck driver throughout his working years.
Bill loved animals especially his cats. He took pride in a well-groomed yard helping to maintain an extensive rose garden. He could often be found polishing his truck and the car. Other hobbies included photography, painting, and riding his motorcycle. He played the trumpet, the piano, and the guitar. He loved to get away especially to his mountain property in Idaho.
He married Kathryn Goss in 1968. They had two children, Lisa Marie and Brian Jay. They later divorced.
He married Christine Layton Bennett in 1980. They enjoyed a long and lasting relationship. Bill was a wonderful helpmate, friend and sweetheart. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, William Maughn Painter; his mother, Thora Child Painter; and his two sisters, Jane P. Dewey and Janet (Eddie) Wells.
He is survived by his children; Lisa (Lance) Olson, Brian J. (Toni) Painter; three step-children; Blaine S. Bennett, Teresa Bennett (Donavon) Walker, Brock W Bennett; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Bill requested no viewing or service. Friends and family are invited to Celebrate his Life at an open house in his honor at his home; 412 N. 250 E. Kaysville on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 6:00– 8:00 pm in the evening.
