William Craig Wood

January 18, 1958 - August 29, 2017

William Craig Wood, age 59, of Ogden Utah, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. Craig passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, August 29th, 2017.

Craig was born January 18th, 1958, in Provo, Utah to William S. Wood and Ruth Ann Paramore. Craig went to Ben Lomond High School and then joined the Navy in 1977. He spent seven years proudly serving his country. He was first stationed at Diego Garcia in the South Pacific and was then transferred to Miramar, San Diego, California. While at Miramar, he was assigned to the USS Enterprise and was aboard the ship when Hollywood filmed the movie “Top Gun.” Craig loved serving his country but was injured while on active duty and was honorably discharged.

Craig returned to Ogden and worked at both Chromalox and Parker Control Systems as a machinist. Craig was then given the opportunity to serve his country again as a civilian at Hill Air Force Base where he worked until the spring of 2017.

Craig was very artistic and enjoyed hand drawing and sketching all throughout his life.

In his spare time, Craig loved working on cars and thoroughly enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson with his friends. He could fix just about anything and was very handy. Craig single-handedly remodeled his home during the winter months.

Craig is preceded in death by his dad, Jack Everson, and former spouse, Daphne Gemar.

Craig is survived by his partner, Mary Weisenbach of Ogden Utah; his two daughters, Danielle (Jason) Heaton of Yarnell, Arizona, and Desirae Wood of Salt Lake City Utah; four grandchildren, Emily, Ravin, Dayton and Mia; his mother, Ruth Ann Everson of Ogden, Utah; father, Bill (Bonnie) Wood of Irvine California; his sisters, Wendy (Douglas) Clark of Pleasant View, Utah, Teri (Gil) Claxton of West Haven, Utah, and Kelly Wood of Austin, Texas.

Graveside services and Military Honors will be held on Saturday, September 9th, 2017. Service will start at 11:00 AM at Leavitt’s Mortuary, located at 836 36th Street in Ogden, Utah, followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon for family and friends in the Leavitt’s Atrium.
