Catherine Kay Leavitt

May 1, 1945 ~ July 1, 2018 (age 73)

Kay Leavitt, 73, returned to her Heavenly home on Sunday, July 1, 2018, of natural causes. Kay was born to Clarence and Hortense Leavitt on May 1, 1945, in Ogden Utah, where she lived most of her life.

Kay graduated from Ben Lomond High School and Stevens Henager College. She worked as a secretary for several years at Meridian Publishing. She worked at Newgate Mall, Associated Foods, the Ogden Applied Technology Center, The Deseret Industries, and she retired from 8 years of working at the Ogden LDS Temple.

Kay was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held numerous callings including nursery worker, librarian, greeter, relief society chorister, and visiting teacher supervisor. She loved singing in the choir at church and participating in ward functions.

Kay enjoyed spending time with her family. She was always a very loving aunt and great aunt. She loved to travel with her nieces and nephews and always supported them in their activities. Kay loved to give gifts to others and would remember what people liked.

Kay loved animals especially cats. She also liked The Wizard of Oz, country music, especially The Grand Ole Opry, reading, crafts, scary movies, and Little House on the Prairie. Kay was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Kay is survived by her brother, Clair (Shanna) Leavitt; nieces, April (Rusty) Sessions, Heidi Leavitt, Shantel (Matt) Boeckmann, and Sheri Parker; and her nephews, Don Parker, Kenny (Jodi) Parker, and David (Linda) Leavitt. She is preceded in death by her mother, Hortense Leavitt; dad, Clarence Leavitt; and sister, Mary Parker.

A Viewing will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018, from 6:00-8:00 pm and on Monday, July 9, 2018, from 10:00 – 10:45 am at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th St, Ogden, UT 84403. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd, Ogden, Utah 84401
