Clara passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2018, peacefully at home next to her husband and sister after a long battle with liver cancer. She was born on May 24, 1952, in Ogden UT, the daughter of John E. and Ruth Carver. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1970.
She was a member of Job's Daughters. She graduated Weber State in Education, and then graduated Utah State in Special Education. She also graduated with Sp. Ed. master’s degree at University of Utah. She taught 35 years of Sp. Ed. at Rexburg ID and Ogden School District. She received "Golden Apple Award" at Ogden City School District. She loved running, walking and exercising. She loved traveling during holidays and summer breaks (esp. Seaside, OR). She was an avid novel book reader. She loved crocheting and made many baby Afghans and she took up quilting after retirement.
Clara spent many years of her life teaching. She dedicated much of her career to preschool children with special needs. She truly enjoyed her job and loved her preschool students. She inspired families and mentored many of her colleagues. Her expectations, talents, favorite children’s songs, and her love for her students will always be remembered.
Clara is survived by her husband, Kerry Gifford, and her sister, Ruth Ann Morrill.
Viewing will be held at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, UT on September 28, 2018 at 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park on September 29, 2018 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to American Cancer Society is acceptable.
