Darry La vor Datwyler

August 8, 1934 ~ August 13, 2018 (age 84)

Surrounded by loved ones, our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend Darry La Vor Datwyler returned to the arms of his Heavenly Father August 13, 2018 at his home in Holladay, Utah following a courageous battle with illness.

Darry was born on August 8, 1934, in Logan, Utah.  He married his eternal sweetheart Ruby JoAnn Gunderson October 12, 1956, in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity.

Darry was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and always was dedicated in his service in many callings including the latest where he served faithfully at the Salt Lake Temple every week, until the time that his health would no longer permit.  As a young man Darry served a full-time mission in the Northern States Mission, which had its headquarters in Chicago.

Darry served in the Armed Forces of the United States at the 3D Missile Battalion in Quincy, Massachusetts from December 3, 1956 to September 15, 1958, where he received an honorable discharge at the expiration of his term of service.

Darry was a very hard worker and loved helping those he worked with.  He was an Electrical Contractor, General Contractor and owner of Datwyler Electric and Construction Co.

Darry was truly an inspiration to all and exemplified his Savior Jesus Christ.  Darry loved everyone unconditionally and was a living example of faith, service and kindness.  His family always came first in his thoughts, deeds and actions.  He loved spending time with them and always made the holidays and other occasions special.  He loved spending time in the outdoors with his family.  He was optimistic, supportive and kind to those around him, giving of his time and talents.  In short, Darry taught us how to treat and serve everyone and was a great example of ministering to others.  Darry was soft spoken, kind, always smiling, whistling and has the purest heart of gold.

Darry is survived by three children: Curt (Julianne), Laura and Cynthia; as well as seven grandchildren, Collin (Shaelyn), Jillian (Jason Silva), Garrett, Christopher, Gabrielle, Angelina, and Alexandria; as well as two great-grandchildren, Ruby Silva, Isabelle Schadt; and brother, LeRoy (Janet); and sister, Sharon Noorda (Norman).

The funeral will be Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Cottonwood Fifth Ward Chapel at 5913 South Highland Drive, Holladay, Utah.  There will be a viewing Friday evening at the church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday before the funeral from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m.

Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery.
