On Thursday, September 13, 2018, Orlando Joel Torres, loving son, brother, and uncle was welcomed into heaven to play with the angels in the outfield at the age of 28.
Orlando was born on Friday, August 10, 1990, in Ogden, Utah to his loving mom Ericka Torres and father Richard Torres. Words cannot express how truly amazing, humble, and genuine Orlando was. His outgoing ways were so pure, he loved everyone he encountered. Orlando always put others first, especially his niece and nephews who he adored.
His smile was so authentic, his laughter was unforgettable, and his heart was big and full of life. The world lost a very loving and kind-hearted person you would have ever met. Orlando would want us to remember him as if he was here with us. Whether it would be teasing, laughing, talking about sports, or listening to his music. He wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
Orlando grew up in Layton and Ogden Utah. He attended Whitesides Elementary, T.H. Bell Jr High, and Bonneville High School where he played baseball for the Lakers! He was an avid sports lover. You could always find him shredding snow on the mountain or watching his favorite teams play, The NY Yankees or The Dallas Cowboys with the Bell Squad.
Orlando is survived by his mom Ericka Torres. Sisters Cassie (Tim Sturgiss), Janeane (Dakota Harris), Lachey (Steve Whitaker), and his Brother Tyson Torres along with his extended brothers. His niece/goddaughter Eliana, his nephews Tj, Nico, Dakari, and Andy. His Godparents Sylvia and Francisco Rodriguez and many other family members.
A public viewing will be held in his Memory on Monday, September 24, 2018, 5:00 pm - 7:20 pm at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th St Ogden, UT 84403. Services will follow at 7:30 pm.
