Paul H. Burton (November 17, 1934 – November 6, 2018) passed away Tuesday after a gallant fight at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is survived by his wife Lorene’ Burton, Children, Paul Burton (Nancy), Lisa Lee, Tom Burton, Lennis Burton, Loura Flick (Mike), Cindy Clark, Jeff and Randy Baker, as well as nieces, nephews, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Paul served in the Army, was a Korean War veteran, and retired from Hill AFB. He was born and raised in Ogden, UT where he married Lennis Jo Dye Burton and raised their family in Sunset, UT; they were later divorced. After retirement he moved to Bear River, WY with the love of his life Lorene’. Despite the distance he maintained numerous lifelong friendships. He loved his home and raising animals as well as all of his local friends in WY.
He loved fishing, hunting, John Wayne, scotch, betting on the horses, camping with his wife, his dogs, friends and family. He especially loved bowling; he was on the OBA Board for several years. He was also a lifetime avid Redskin fan. He liked people and people liked him. Once he met a person he liked they were never again strangers. He loved to cook and entertain and tell stories; he’d say anything to make people laugh. His grand and great grandkids loved hearing him talk about his life growing up and marveled as time went on because the fish got bigger, and the tales got taller. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
We’d like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Veterans Hospital, SLC for the wonderful care and kindness they showed him during the last weeks of his life.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018, at 12:00 noon at Leavitt’s Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 – 36th St., Ogden, UT. A Celebration of Life will follow at his daughter, Lisa Lee’s home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to the Salt Lake City VA Fisher House.
