Our beloved and cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed peaceably from this life on February 9th, 2015 at the home of her daughter in Ogden, Utah.
Dona Bieler Harris was born April 17th, 1925 in Ogden, Utah to Paul Samuel Bieler and Itha Galbraith.
She married the love of her life, Harold Duane Harris on November 6th, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple as he was preparing to serve with the United States Navy in World War II. She typified all that was good with the greatest generation as she learned to be a mother and run a home within the confines that war brings. She not only rose to the occasion, but through sacrifice and hard work made their house a home.
She led a joyful and complete life that always exemplified the pioneer spirit with everything she did. She exhibited self-reliance, creativity, thriftiness, and hard work to create a comfortable and loving environment even in the early lean years of their marriage. She taught these qualities to her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She had a gift for sewing, which she taught herself at a young age. This talent carried her through this life as she created many useful and valued items for both herself and those around her.
Her home was always open to others. She loved her friends, those from BYU, Shell Oil and Ely, Nevada. She held them near and dear to her heart, and cherished the many vacations they enjoyed together. She was eager to take the time to play a round of hearts or push rummy with anyone that asked, serve a warm meal, or laugh late into the night.
She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was very proud of her pioneer ancestry.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Duane; parents, and sister Virginia Waterlyn and daughter-in-law Bobbi. She is survived by children Duane Bieler Harris, Michael Glen Harris (Letha), Nanon Record (Mike), Robin Bieler Harris (Cathy), and Kevin Bieler Harris; sisters, Evelyn Forbes and Jeanette VanAlfen; 19 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.
