Donald Leonard Wilson passed peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2017. He was born March 14, 1930, in San Francisco, California, to parents Leonard Lee Wilson and Iona Wayment. Don grew up in Ogden, moved to Layton whern he started his own family, and later to Syracuse, Utah. He graduated from Ogden High School. He married Shirley Valere Palmer, June 15, 1949, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Later in life they divorced. Don was employed at Hill Air Force Base with Facility Management for over 35 years. He also worked part time at Safeway Supermarket in Clearfield. Service was Dons motto he was always just a call away, willing to help everyone. He loved the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Fast pitch softball and basketball comp teams occupied some of his spare moments in his younger years. He loved all of his sidekick dogs during his lifetime; now confusing all of them with the same name of Rex. Bow/arrows, rifle, shotgun, snowmobile, rod/reel and fishing net were some of his pleasurable vices. He gladly taught his family to love all these things, the outdoors, hunting, fishing and boating. Any family get-togethers, graduations, baptisms, birthdays, holidays, mission calls, weddings, whatever, Dad/Grandpa was there with his love and support through the years. He lovingly cared for his mother at his home during her final years. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout his life. He is survived by his children: Brad (Roberta), son-in-law Corey Sheffield, Tim (Karen) and Sheryl (Taylor) Williams, half-sister Mary Fae (Wally) Page, half-brother Kent (Kathy) Ross; many nieces and nephews; 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Daryl Sheffield, half-brother Dale Ross, half-sister Janice Gomez and great-grandson Charles Timothy Wilson.
