On October 18, 2018, our sweet and loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandma, Big Mama and friend to all, returned home to her final resting place and into the arms of her beloved husband and soulmate, Clyde. In her final days and moments, Greta was surrounded by her loving and devoted family standing hand in hand.
Greta was born on September 18, 1934, in Claxton, GA. to Broughton and Lera Barrow. She married the love of her life Clyde Stanley on September 20, 1951, just over the county line. Clyde said it was the best $5 he ever spent.
Greta was a smart and savvy businesswoman. One career she loved most was her time as a Real Estate Agent and every family she helped was important to her. Greta knew no strangers, she cherished her friendships including those made through service at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Westville, FL. and her family at Clearfield Community Church. The number of lives she made better and easier are countless. From cooking for the Airman on the flight line caf to meals on wheels, Gretas service knew no boundaries.
Greta taught her three children to be loving and giving but wasnt afraid to swing a flip flop when necessary or tell you what you shouldve done. Spending many years in Leonia, Florida on the family farm, the memories on the front porch swing with family will never be forgotten and have left their legacy of love.
What a sweet and tender reunion as she joined her soulmate and love of 62 years, Clyde. Greta and Clyde were nurturers at heart taking in many who were in need that became family, and rescuing animals the lives they saved left an imprint on us all.
Preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters Eloise and Susan, brothers B.C. and Jerry, and her husband Clyde.
Survived by her children, Diane K. Green, Joseph (Linda) Stanley, Mark (Dena) Stanley, Brother Ira (Randy) Giffin, Lori (Mike deceased) Masero, and Sisters Anita (Jerry) Dresel and Wilma Bowen; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of her memory, please make a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
