Harold E. Gibbs, Jr., 92, passed away at Ogden Regional Hospital from natural causes.
He was born September 7, 1923 in Providence, Rhode Island to Harold E. and Ruth Lea Gibbs.
Harold graduated from Central High School in Providence. He also graduated from the FBI Academy in Washington, D.C. and from Weber State College in Ogden, Utah.
Harold married Enid M. Roberts on December 16, 1944. They later moved to Ogden, Utah.
During World War II Harold served in the U.S. Navy Air Force in both the North and South Pacific.
Harold belonged to the George Washington Lodge #24 F&AM (later changed to Golden Spike Lodge #16) and served as master of his lodge. He also belonged to the El Monte Commandery No. 2 Knights Templar. For a number of years he was advisor to the Ogden DeMolay Chapter.
Harold was employed by the U.P.R.R. and later for the Ogden City Police Department, retiring in December 1983 as Captain.
Harold is survived by his son, Wade (Lyn) of Riverdale; daughters, Phyllis (Tom) Vudhivadhana of Ogden and Laurie Gibbs of Ogden; brother, Raymond of Los Fresnos, Texas; sisters, Helen Pannell of Troutville, Virginia; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Enid, after being married for 59 years; daughters, Karen and Gwenneth and sister, Virginia Smith.
A Masonic Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, Ogden, Utah.
