Joseph Lynn Elmer, 74, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 at McKay Dee Hospital. He was born on June 28, 1942 in Ogden, Utah to George and LaRee Elmer. Joseph married Dianne Taintor in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 5, 1962. They had three sons, Michael (Roxayn), Stephen and Jeff. They later divorced. He then married his sweetheart and best friend Kathleen Shipley on May 25, 1973 in Ogden, Utah. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple. Kathleen brought two more sons into the family, Timothy and Dan (Dixie) Patterson. Joseph was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as 2nd Counselor in the Bishopric. He was known as the man with the gummy bears. When he would shake your hand he would leave you a gummy bear. He was a happy and positive person, no matter how he felt or what was going on. If you asked him how he was, he would always say About a B+. Joseph retired from the US Postal Service after 35 years. He was the best husband in the world, he was also a loving father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Even until the end, he was a selfless person. He donated his organs to save others lives. Joseph is survived by his wife; five sons, three brothers; four sisters; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother. A Viewing will be Friday, January 27, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the LDS Church, 216 North 1500 West, Marriott-Slaterville, Utah. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January, 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at the church. Friends may visit with the family prior to services from 10:00 to 10:45 am.
