Joyce Bowman Eickmeyer, 79, of Indio, California, passed away peacefully at JFK Hospital in Indio on November 1, 2017, after a long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born January 29, 1938, in Ogden, Utah, to Roscoe Edward and Ina Loretta (Burrows) Bowman. She was married to Thomas Lee Eickmeyer on July 17, 1964, in Salt Lake City; he predeceased her on October 7, 1983. She attended Ogden High (graduated Class of 1956), Weber College, and the University of Utah.
She worked in SLC at Albertsons (in Sugar House, for future LDS General Authority Vaughn J. Featherstone), in Laguna Beach at Ward & Harrington Lumber and Laguna Federal Savings & Loan, in Indio at United California Bank and Valley Sanitary District, and last in Personnel at Coachella Valley Water District (January 28, 1980 to May 3, 2000) where she was well-liked for her helpfulness. Besides the cities previously mentioned, she lived in Dana Point and San Clemente.
A life-long faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she loved serving as a Temple worker in San Diego and then Redlands, until her health no longer permitted.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and survived by children John Evan (wife Stephanie, daughter Elizabeth Grace, Sacramento) and April Elysse (Indio & Sacramento); by siblings Janet (Lowell) Gillett (Holladay, UT), Rosalind (Lawrence) Aldous (Syracuse, UT), Ross (Dianne) Bowman (Ogden), and Bruce (Janie) Bowman (Salem, OH); and numerous nieces and nephews.
All family and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at Leavitts Mortuary (836 36th St., Ogden) on Saturday, November 11, at 2:00 pm, following which she will be buried next to Tom in the adjacent Aultorest Memorial Park. She was a generous, kind, and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she will be missed.
