Our loving mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on September 3, 2014, at The Legacy House, Ogden. Kate was born August 8, 1920 and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She is the daughter of Mike and Angelina Sara. She married Anthony Ferro on June 1, 1939 and had three boys that they raised in Ogden, Utah, where she continued to live in her cute green house for over 65 years. A loving mother, Momma Ferro loved her family; she loved cooking for them, being with them, tending her grandsons, Italian days at Lagoon, working in her yard and her cat Misty. Kate loved phone calls and visits from family and friends. She was a beautiful lady and admired by all with her smile and great sense of humor, which we will miss deeply. She enjoyed working at St. Benedicts Hospital for 26 years. The friendships she made continued after her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Katherine is survived by her sister Lucille; sons: Ben Ferro (Marylou) California, Ron Ferro (Lynette) Ogden, Mike Ferro (Donna) Ogden; and five grandchildren: Anthony Ferro (Becky) California, Doug Ferro (Lisa) California, Gino Ferro (Nova) Salt Lake, Michael S. Ferro (Jen Green) Salt Lake, and Erica VanAarle (Patrick) Ogden. She also has eight great grandchildren: Ryan, Riley, April, Katie, Alexa, Jenna, Ivy and Emery. Katherine is preceded in death by her loving husband Tony; sisters Jenny and Lena; and her three brothers: Bill, Dominic and Jim. A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Leavitts Mortuary, 836-36th St., Ogden from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to follow. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Josephs Church, 514-24th St., Ogden. Interment at Leavitts Aultorest Memorial Park.
