LaVon T. VanOrden, 77, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2015 at his home in Pleasant View, Utah. He was born October 22, 1937 to Don Merrill and Irvene Thompson VanOrden in Logan, Utah. Von grew up in the Ogden area and graduated from Ogden High in 1955. He married Emma Jean Burge in Brigham City, Utah on June 25, 1960 and they were sealed for time and eternity in the Bountiful, Utah temple on January 20, 1998. Von worked at Hill Air Force Base where he was responsible for the building and maintenance of physiological trainers for pilots around the world. He retired from Hill AFB in 1994. Von loved to work with his hands, and following his retirement, he designed and built a beautiful home in Liberty, Utah. While living in Liberty, he went to work for a contractor scheduling maintenance on F-16 fighter wings. After almost twenty beautiful years in Liberty, Von and Jean moved to Pleasant View. Von was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended and had many dear friends in the North Fork Ward in Liberty, as well as the Pleasant View 10th Ward. He considered his greatest accomplishments to be his family, winning the love of his sweetheart, Emma Jean, and finally adding a cherry on their cake, by giving his sweetheart a wonderful baby girl. Another of his joys was riding his Harley and going on bike rides with his sons and his friends. He loved going to the gym and watching his grandchildrens many sporting events. He was a quiet giant who had a way about him that made each member of his family and every person that he met feel loved and important. Von is survived by his wife Jean, son Chet (Janice) VanOrden, son Scott (Stacy) VanOrden, son Lance VanOrden and daughter Tiffany (Adam) Trump. He is also survived by his sister Carol (Jerry) Weaver, brother Cleve (Kaye) VanOrden and sister Daun Marie (Oliver) Larson. He was grandpa to 14 and great grandpa to six, plus two more on the way that he will visit with prior to their arrival. He was preceded in death by his parents.
