LaRaine was born in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Paquette and Edna (Carroll) Paquette on May 18, 1924. She was the third of four siblings and is the last of her original family, passing away at age 90. She lived her entire life in Ogden.
She attended Ogden City schools and married her childhood sweetheart (who was also her brothers best friend), Waide G. Newcomb, on May 25th 1943. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1992.
LaRaine and Waide enjoyed traveling, boating, reading, and getting together with friends and family. She was an accomplished artist who left behind many beautiful pieces of hand-painted porcelain. She loved playing her piano, playing mahjong on the computer, and solving crossword puzzles, completing even the toughest New York Times puzzle with hardly any effort. Mom was employed by IRS for 17 years and also worked at HAFB.
LaRaine and Waide had three children: Lee Michael (Sylvia) Newcomb, Richard (Dick and Barbara) Newcomb, and William Newcomb; five grandchildren: Gina (Eric) Munson, Tracie (Jeff) Johnson, Natalie (Ben) Chamberlain, Lori (Sean) Jensen, Michael (Dusty) Preece and 10 great-grandchildren. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her two brothers, Jim and Bob Paquette, and her sister Mary Marshall.
The family would like to thank the people of Curo Hospice and Comfort Keepers for their excellent care and compassion. We especially want to thank her aide, Dominique Bisseger and her nurse, Parker Newhauser, for their tender care and attention given to comfort our Mom. We respectfully honor our mothers wishes to be cremated and laid to rest without a formal viewing or funeral. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please remember LaRaine by making a donation to your favorite charity.
