Mary Nunez, 83, passed away April 11, 2015. She was born February 23, 1932 in Arroyo Seco, New Mexico to Slivaria and David Sanchez. She was raised by Navitividea and Locadio Cordova. Mary moved to Green River, WY where she met the love of her life, Ernest. Mary and Ernest were married on October 25, 1951 and have been married for 63 loving years.
Moms greatest joy was her family. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She loved their visits and to cook for them. Grandma made the BEST tortillas ever!
Mary was the most loving, caring, and forgiving person you would ever meet. She always wanted to help people and never judged anyone. She helped many organizations: The Salvation Army, MS Society, The Heart Institute, Veterans Affairs, Cancer research, St. Judes Hospital, Catholic Services and many more.
Mary was a long-time resident of Ogden, Utah and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She belonged to the Union Pacific Club #6 (old timers club) which she really enjoyed. She also enjoyed traveling by train with her husband, Ernest, who worked for the railroad for 43 years.
Mary is survived by her husband, Ernest; daughter, Jeanne Barnes; son-in-law Ken H. Barnes; son, Ernest V. Nunez; six grandchildren: Philip R. Barnes, Amanda M. Barnes, Kenneth (Megan) H. Barnes III, Jacob R. Barnes, Ernesto J. Nunez, Eduardo V. Nunez; four great grandchildren: Isabella M. Lucero, Matthew J. Barnes, Emeeree J. Barnes, , Aleena M. Barnes; family friend, Jason Lucero.
Mom/Grandma had the biggest heart and was truly an Angel.
Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma:
Though her smile is gone
and her hand we cannot touch
we still have memories of the one we loved so much
her memory is our keepsake with which well never part.
God has her in his keeping and we have her in our heart.
Mom, we love and miss you so very much. Its time to rest and dont worry about us, well be okay. Look after us until we meet again.
Your loving family.
The family would like to express their appreciation to all the doctors at McKay Dee Hospital who cared for her and did their very best to treat and keep her comfortable as well as those who visited her at her home to assist her with her needs.
