Ora Jean Heslop Belnap's Obituary

OGDEN Surrounded by her family, Ora Jean Heslop Belnap peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father April 21, 2016. Ora Jean was born January 20, 1927 in West Weber, Weber County, Utah to John Albert Heslop and Laura Bell Hogge Heslop. She was the seventh daughter and last survivor of eight siblings: Margaret, Ortell, Lois, Belva, Almira, Beth, Ivan, and Orlyn. Ora Jean grew up understanding the value of hard work, and helping on the family farm in West Weber. She was reared and educated in West Weber, and graduated from Weber High School in 1945. She was grateful for the opportunity of serving as senior class secretary and enjoyed being on the year book staff her senior year. It was during her senior year of high school that she met her eternal companion, Max Gilbert Belnap. They wrote to each other while Max served in the Army in Korea during World War II (1945 1946). When Max returned home, they dated some more and were then married and sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on October 22, 1947. Together they raised six children. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary not long before Max preceded her in death, April 2008. After her six children were all in school, Ora Jean returned back to college. She graduated a second time from Weber State College with an associate degree in Nursing. She worked at McKay-Dee Hospital for 20 years. Ora Jean and her husband Max served a mission in the Cleveland Ohio Mission. They served a second mission in the Mt. Ogden Stake in the Orchard Park 2nd Ward. Ora Jean is survived by four daughters and two sons; Karen (Mark) Clarke, Beverly Johnson, Valene (Robert) Terry, Janeece Garrett, Douglas (Julie) Belnap and Gregory Belnap; 19 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max; parents; six sisters and two brothers. The family expresses appreciation to Dr. Glen Biddulphj and Dr. Justin Mansfield, the nurses and CNAs with Specialty Nursing, Stoney Brooke, Legacy House of Ogden, Right at Home and Step Forward Hospice for their loving care and attention during these past six years.
