Wichai Boonchan December 29, 1960 February 8, 2020 Wichai Boonchan passed away on February 8, 2020 at the Crestwood Care Center in Ogden from a rough battle of metastasis colon cancer. He was 59 years old. Wichai was born on December 29, 1960 to Kummee Boonchan and Daeng Srisamon in the small village of Udon, Thailand. His dad died at a young age when he was around 5 years old. He moved to the United States at 18 and he was excited and full of ambition to live his dream of being in America. He had a stepfather, James, and a stepsister, Carrie, that he would grow up with his first years living in America. He graduated from Dugway High School in Utah. His interests were riding dirt bikes, exercising and doing things such as ceramics and wood shop skills. He enjoyed singing and would practice writing English by listening to song lyrics. His sister described that he was "best at Pac-Man and hacky sack" and enjoyed kung-fu and Clint Eastwood movies. Chai later went on to attend what is now known as the Ogden-Weber Technical College where he completed Electronics Assembler and Developmental areas. He lived a rough life both in Thailand and America. His life began when he had his first childa baby boy, and went on to have another baby boy two years later. Chai was a hard worker and worked at Lifetime Products most of his life. He showed that family was important to him and he loved his sons. Although he was tired most of the time, he did his best to always be there for his children and to provide for them always. He was humorous, kind, caring and, most importantly, strong on both the inside and the outside. Around late November of 2019, he was diagnosed with colon cancer. After another visit to the emergency room due to a sharp abdominal pain a week later, doctors found out that the cancer spread through mostly the liver and the lungs. Many hospital visits and appointments happened after that and Chai did the very best and gave the cancer a fight. He became very sick near the end and suffered some hepatic encephalopathy or confusion caused by liver dysfunction and became very weak. He would live the remainder of his life doing the best he could in all things, and he was cared for by his sons and a few others to recognize as well. Wichai is survived by his mother, Daeng Ledford; his brother and stepsister, Wichain and Carrie Pollock; sister-in-law Patcharee; brother-in-law Steve Pollock; nephew Charlie; nieces Ashley and Jade Pollock; and by his sons, Austin and Steven. A viewing will be held at 2:00 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 15th, at Leavitts Mortuary, 836-36th St, Ogden, UT 84403.
