Willis Glenn Galvez, 79 was born in New Castle, Colorado on November 21, 1934, one of 12 children to Fred and Flossie Garcia Galvez. They moved to Ogden, Utah when Willis was nine-years-old. He passed away on November 2, 2014 in Ogden.
He attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Weber High School in 1954. While in school he excelled in wrestling and went to the University of Utah on a wrestling scholarship. He graduated from Weber State College in 1967. He made many lifelong friends through his school years and later. After enlisting he wrestled for the Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss Texas.
He worked as a carpenter for many years and retired from the Davis County Schools as a carpenter. He was an extremely hard worker and could work circles around the younger guys. He was a" Jack of all Trades" and could fix almost anything. He was always helping someone and you could see him all over the area helping people. He was a GOOD MAN.
Willis was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints, where he has served as Elders Quorum President, a member of the Bishopric and in the High Priest Group Presidency.
He was married to Arlene Tribe and had two beautiful daughters that were born to this marriage; Pam (Andy) and Christy (Jamie) as well as four grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were later divorced.
On February 2, 1962 he married Lois Menlove in Ogden, Utah. They recently celebrated 52 years of marriage. They are the parents of five wonderful children; Randy (deceased), Misti (Mat), Wendi, Sandi (Laroy) & Chad (Marci). They have seven grandchildren; Colby, Kelsi (Preston), Thadius, Taijanai, Melia, Aidan & Mason. His brothers and sisters are; Fred Jr. (Lora Dean), Bertha (deceased), Pauline (deceased), June, Rosella (deceased), Harvey (Carol), Art (Dixie), Phyllis, and Don (Nancy). We will all miss him horribly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday November 7, 2014 at Leavitts Mortuary 836-36th St. Ogden, UT. There will be a viewing Thursday, November 6, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Leavitts and one hour prior to services from 10:00-10:45 am.
Interment at Leavitt Aultorest Memorial Park.
